Principal’s Message

Welcome to March!

Welcome to March!

We have officially begun our last trimester of the 2023-2024 school year! While we may want to think about all the fun to be had at the end of the year, we still have a lot of work to complete and many things to learn.

Here are a few reminders as we head into the spring season and warmer weather. Please remember school appropriate clothing when dressing for school. With the weather being warmer, students will be pulling the shorts, skirts, and sundresses out of the closet. Unfortunately, it’s been several months, students have grown and the clothes have not. Please make sure shorts and skirts are not too short for school (at least fingertip length or longer) and remember… no spaghetti straps. Tank top, dresses, and shirts must have straps that are at least 2 finger widths.

Attendance is always a topic of discussion. I want to share some of our attendance statistics in the March Gazette to bring awareness and hopefully improve our attendance. Regarding late students: 64% of PGES students have been tardy to school so far this year for a total of 1,545 tardies (ranging from 5 minutes to multiple hours late).

Regarding absences: 76% of PGES students have been absent this year for a total of 2,382 school days missed. (Yikes!) Regarding early dismissals: 71% of students have left early (ranging from 5 minutes to multiple hours early) for a total of 699 early dismissals.

I know life happens and we still want you to keep ill children at home so they may rest, recover, and help decrease the spread of germs. However, if a child is not contagious or not ill, we want them here EVERY DAY, ON TIME, ALL DAY! Students who are not in class have fewer opportunities to learn the material that enables them to succeed later in school and life. Absences from school reduces the quantity and quality of education. I look forward to our last trimester together. Thank you so much for sharing your child with me!

Yours in education,
